How to Create a Gradient Effect on Your Taba Squishy?

by JoBurg 03 Mar 2025

Taba Squishies, made from soft, food-grade silicone, are incredibly satisfying to squeeze. But why settle for a plain squishy when you can customize it with beautiful colors? This guide will teach you how to create a stunning gradient effect, giving your Taba Squishy a unique and personalized look. The technique is surprisingly similar to creating gradient nail art!

Materials You'll Need:

  • Your Taba Squishy
  • Acrylic paint (or a suitable paint that adheres to silicone – check the paint's label). At least two colors for the gradient.
  • A small cup or container for mixing.
  • A cosmetic sponge wedge (like those used for makeup application).
  • Optional: A sealant to protect the paint (make sure it's food-safe if you intend the squishy to come into contact with food, even indirectly)., some type of glue.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Colors: In your small cup, prepare your first color. The example image shows a light blue. Mix a small amount of your chosen paint color. For better adhesion, add a few drop of glue.

  • Apply Paint to the Sponge: Dip the tip of your cosmetic sponge wedge into the first color. Don't overload the sponge; a little paint goes a long way.

  • Apply the First Color: Gently dab the sponge onto the Taba Squishy. Start at one end and work your way towards the middle, creating a fading effect. The color should be most intense at the starting point and gradually become lighter as you move towards the center. This is just like applying a gradient to a fingernail. Repeatedly dab .

  1. Repeat the steps with second color: Start at the another end and work your way towards the middle.

  2. Optional: Seal the Paint: Once the paint is completely dry, you can apply a thin layer of sealant to protect your design and make it more durable. Again, ensure the sealant is food-safe if necessary.

Tips for Success:

  • Work in Thin Layers: Multiple thin layers of paint will always look better than one thick, uneven layer.
  • Blend Quickly: Work quickly while the paint is still wet to achieve a smooth blend between colors.
  • Practice: If you're new to this, consider practicing on a piece of paper or another silicone object before working on your Taba Squishy.
  • Clean up: If the color not perfect, just clean it up with a damp cloth.

With a little practice, you can create amazing gradient effects on your Taba Squishies and give them a truly unique look! Experiment with different color combinations and enjoy the process.
