Taba Squishy Texture Guide: Water, Clay, Cement, Cream & More!
Taba Squishy Texture Guide: Water, Clay, Cement, Cream & More! (Personal Preferences)
🔺🔺🔺 Disclaimer: I have muscle weakness, so this is purely a personal guide. Squishy textures don't have strict definitions, and differing opinions are perfectly normal. Please don't argue with me about these classifications.
⭕️ Taba Squishies can be broadly divided into two main categories: Water-based and Clay-based.
🔴 1. Water-based (Mizu-kan): Water-based squishies are characterized by their fast rebound and relatively light, soft feel. They are very "duang" (bouncy) in the hand and make a "guji-guji" (squishing) sound when pressed. They are suitable for people with muscle weakness.
🔴 2. Clay-based (Dei-kan/Nendo-kan): Clay-based squishies are characterized by their slow rebound and relatively thick, substantial feel. They also have resistance when pressed. Clay-based textures have varying degrees of resistance. Pure clay-based squishies have greater resistance and are suitable for those with stronger hands. Nowadays, people generally refer to clay-based squishies with slight resistance as "rotten clay" (kuso-nendo or similar – a more accurate translation might be "soft clay" or "mud-like clay").
🔴 3. Cement-based (Semento-kan): Cement-based textures are a middle ground between water-based and clay-based. The exact ratio varies, so whether it leans more towards watery or clay-like, it's still called "cement." You'll need to distinguish these yourself. The ones I've purchased combine the fast rebound of water-based squishies but have a distinct "clay-like" feeling when pressed.
🔴 4. Cream-based (Kurīmu-kan): I personally consider cream-based textures to be a subcategory of clay-based. Cream-based squishies are characterized by their smooth, spreadable texture. They have absolutely no resistance and are extremely soft, like a dollop of cream. Cream-based textures can be further divided into "thick cream" and "thin cream." Thick cream has a more substantial feel when pressed and feels heavier in the hand.
🔴 5. I personally believe that a "bursting" texture is incompatible with a cream-based texture. The smoothness of a cream-based squishy means it's impossible to get that "bursting" sensation when squeezed.😭 This is just my personal opinion.
I hope this guide is helpful to all of you! Feel free to discuss in the comments. I hope you all enjoy playing with your squishies!
